If you aren’t already using Firefox (why the hell not?), then go get it now. Seriously. Firefox 3.5 is out now, and it is twice as fast as Firefox 3, according to a SunSpider test on an XP machine (results here).

Not much needs to be said, Firefox is awesome, and just got more awesome.

    Go get it.

TheShade001 over at PPCGeeks was kind enough to post his first ever TouchFlo3D skin and theme… and all I can say is “wow”. This theme makes me want to do very inappropriate things to my phone. I can’t wait to see what this guy comes up with in the future!

I like the looks of the new TF3D 2.5, and hoped that some of us Touch Pro and Diamond users would see it ported to a few popular ROMs in the future. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that’ll be the case. I asked a few chefs about their thoughts on it, and received essentially the same answer from all…

mightypatch Mighty Mike has been dropping surprises on us left and right this week… first the release of his XIP/SYS base, then the bad assery that is the Mighty/Silence Kitchen, and now his OEM base! Put it all together, and you’re building your very own customized MightyROM4, with your choice of tweaks and apps!

All in all, I’d say he chose a great way to launch his site, with a fantastic set of tools for any budding chefs out there.

Head on over to MightyROM.com and check it out!

Change; “to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.”

Change is indeed coming to The Stumblebum. Since the interview format is a hallmark of the site, I (Coz) thought it would be a good idea to hit up Eric for one. So in a recently held interview at a discreet coffee shop I discuss with Eric (chief guru and mastermind behind The Stumblebum), some of the reasons for this change along with some other interesting tidbits.

Coz: Thanks for meeting with me today. How’s the website been recently?

Eric: Well Coz I can tell you that we’ve certainly had a lot of visitors and the phone news stories that we’ve posted have been outstanding. We’ve had some good articles and a good staff overall. And this is certainly an interesting time in the world of cell phones with recent releases and upcoming releases.

Coz: Was that your mom who dropped you off?

Eric: Yeah, my rig is in the shop…..my girlfriend was gonna drop me off on her way to work but…..

    Coz: Is she married?

    Eric: My girlfriend?

    Coz: No your mom!

    (Awkward moment of silence….)

Coz: Anyways, so for the most part The Stumblebum has been a geek site for phones and phone software?

Eric: Yeah, my original idea was to have my site be a place that showcased the newest and coolest products and software for Windows Mobile. As you know we did a bunch of interviews with the members and staff over at PPCGeeks. Since then we’ve had some good responses and traffic has been up.

Coz: Your mom kinda reminded me of Sarah Palin.

Eric: Yeah, I don’t follow politics much.

Coz: Don’t you think Sarah Palin is kinda hot…in a sort of, you know, MILF way?

Eric: Can we get back to talking about the changes to the site please?

Coz: My bad….I just switched to Sanka…..anyways…getting back to the site….tell us what’s coming next at The Stumblebum.

Eric: Well it’s going to morph into a “pretty much everything goes unless it’s illegal” type of forum. In conjunction with this change I’ll be launching PimpMyHTC.com. It’ll be a sort of a “one-stop-shop” for all your tweaking needs from themes to wall papers, etc.

    Coz: You said pimp.

Eric: Yeah….so ultimately The Stumblebum will morph into a site dedicated to more geek humor and technology…a place to discuss a broad range of technology. I think that there is such a huge interest in technology in our society right now. It’s everywhere and our lives are forever changed because of it. It’s time to have a site dedicated to discussing it, deconstructing it, and understanding it.

Coz: Kind of like the “What’s New” section in Popular Science?

    Eric: Popular what?

    Coz: It’s a magazine that…………..never mind.

(Coz gets another cup of coffee)

Eric: I thought you were drinking Sanka?

Coz: My first cup of coffee in the morning is usually Sanka…then I drink regular through out the rest of the day.

    Eric: I see.

Coz: What else can we look forward to?

Eric: Well… in the future I would like to branch out even more, create an entire “geek universe” if you will. Gaming sites, development sites, music, 3d art… you name it. I’m going to run PimpMyHTC and TheStumblebum. I was going to ask you to run the other 35 sites I have in mind. For free. Thanks in advance.

Coz: Sound good…as long as I can get a bit of “off-line” support from your Mom.  So what’s up with PimpMyHTC? Is it online yet?

Eric: Well it’s not quite up and running yet…but it will be very soon. Folks can keep track of it right now through RSS. Just go to the site (PimpMyHTC.com) and subscribe for the feed.

Coz: Again, the marvels of technology.

The excellent pda-247.com has posted an article related to the new engadget article showing off the Sense UI. WMPoweruser states that the Sense UI will be coming to WinMo, and it’s a good damn thing, because that is the most beautiful UI I have ever seen. Smooth, responsive and f’in fast, it’s everything that TouchFLO ever dreamed of being.

Check out pda-247’s article here: Windows Mobile: where to now?

At least, I think they’re awesome. The Stumblebum will be getting more random and well… stumblish in the near future, with the launch of pimpmyhtc.com. I’ll start easing into the new format by occasionally posting some neat links I find out there amongst the clutter.

According to a Microsoft Twitter update, a Bing branded WinMo client will be seen (and I quote) “VERY soon”. Upon hearing this shocking news, a dozen or so fans spontaneously high fived their imaginary friends.

    From the always excellent IntoMobile:

Bing Mobile should feature all the cool location-based searches, speech-recognition and maps/directions offered in the Live Search Mobile client, and will expand support to include Windows Mobile (naturally), BlackBerry, Sidekick and BREW-based phones (Verizon). And, for you European types out there, Bing will finally include localized support for the UK, France and Italy.

Head over to IntoMobile to check out some concept shots if you’re interested.

Happy Father’s Day! I normally don’t do ROM reviews here (actually, this is the first), but I felt that I should sing the praises of this new MightyMike and Silence ROM. Built on Windows Mobile 6.1, this ROM is all about speed. It’s about as stock as it can get… no bloatware, no carrier installed apps, no crazy visual tweaks. But this ROM is freakin’ fast.
